Speedmaster XL 105 - User Report: Grafisch Bedrijf Tuijtel
32 job changes in a single shift. How is that possible? Thanks
to the combination of a Speedmaster XL 105 and the color measuring
system Prinect Inpress Control.
For the printing company Tuijtel, a commercial printer in the
Netherlands, the fast processing of small and medium-sized print
volumes is an important and growing segment. Presently, roughly 30
percent of all its jobs involve special colors, and the share is
increasing. Top productivity and extremely short makeready times
are the most important success factors in this field. Therefore,
Tuijtel had only one choice: a Speedmaster XL 105-5 with coating
unit by Heidelberg.
Ever since 1904, the family business with approximately 70
employees has mainly been active for companies in the Rotterdam
region. Moreover, five percent of Tuijtel's production output are
exported to Great Britain, Ireland, and Belgium. The portfolio of
the printing company is made up of typical commercial products for
fashion companies, shipbuilding companies, agencies, and publishing
houses.
Right from the start, Tuijtel opted for Prinect Image Control
with which the entire print sheet can be measured spectrally. That
makes it possible to control the color zones precisely, according
to the values measured on the print motif. Moreover, the
colorimetrical values are ideal for the Color Management system as
well as for checking and adjusting the characteristic printing
curve. A total of four Speedmaster presses are connected to it.
Together with the new flagship, another measuring device
should be purchased. At that time, Heidelberg demonstrated Prinect
Inpress Control to the manager Albert Tuijtel - the first
spectrophotometer that measures and controls inside the press, so
there is almost no need to pull sheets. "The system truly
amazed us in a short time. With Prinect Inpress Control we can
achieve makeready at 18,000 sheets per hour. Thanks to the
combination of Speedmaster XL 105 with Inpress Control, our
productivity has increased by well over 30 percent."
"With our standardized Color Management processes
according to ISO 12647-2 and the inline color and register
measuring, many jobs are virtually OK as soon as the press has
started up", says Albert Tuijtel.
Of all makeready processes in the field, most time is
obviously spent on adjusting the color and register. Shortening
this process step means reducing the whole procedure dramatically.
Heidelberg makes the right technology available for that purpose. A
blend of productivity, flexibility, and top quality in a press:
Speedmaster XL 105 with Prinect Inpress Control.
