5,000th Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 Prints in Eastern Europe

Early this November, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg)
supplied the 5,000th Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 built for Milan
Horák, a commercial printer in Usti nad labem in the Czech
Republic.
The press is the very first Speedmaster SM 74-8-P to be installed in the Czech Republic and the 84th eight-color 28-inch Heidelberg perfector worldwide. Asked why they opted for the Speedmaster SM 74, those responsible for the purchasing decision at Horák pointed to its fast makereadies, high print quality and productivity, and the greater flexibility with which they can now respond to customer wishes. They also wanted to leverage the press to position themselves as an innovative service provider in the Czech market. The Horák printing company was founded in the summer of 1988 and now employs a staff of about 50. Horák handles all stages of the production process itself and mainly prints brochures, catalogs and advertising materials.
Since launching this mid-size-format product line in 1994, Heidelberg has continually extended it. Originally only single to six-color models were available, but now presses are supplied with up to ten printing units and options including fully automatic perfecting and inline coating. Equipped with the new CP2000 Center control system, the Speedmaster SM 74 of the drupa 2000 generation is excellently suited for seamless integration in the workflows of networked print shops. This optimally prepares printers for meeting the growing requirements of today's market.
