First Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 Ten-Color 5/5 in Switzerland

09/25/2000

Schlaefli & Maurer in Interlaken will be taking charge of Switzerland's first Speedmaster CP2000 SM 74-10-P - and one of the first high-performance ten-color Speedmaster SM 74 units worldwide.

After S&M made a name for itself in the fall of 1996 by taking the first eight-color press, its ambitious owners are now once again looking to make headlines through this exciting new innovation. S&M will replace its entire production installations with cutting-edge print solutions from Heidelberg at the start of 2001. The showpiece of its equipment park will be the Speedmaster SM 74-10 which will replace the existing eight-color press. This will be augmented by a further, convertible Speedmaster SM 74 which will also have five printing units - four colors plus varnish. At the same time, the prepress section will be changed over to cutting-edge CtP components such as the Topsetter 74, Prinergy Workflow und Signastation.

The sizeable investment package will be rounded off by a POLAR 115 ED guillotine system with peripheral finishing units. "This 'high-tech offensive' will help reposition our company and enable us to respond to customers' changing needs, with their ever greater emphasis on top performance," states Rolf Hänni. "This cutting-edge technology, combined with all the opportunities offered by the Workflow and cross-departmental networking, provides us with a platform for pursuing a professional and successful strategy on the 50 x 70 market using powerful new arguments."
