Innovative Technology for the drupa 2000 generation of
Speedmaster SM 74 presses o CP2000 Center now also available in
mid-size format o The most tightly integrated mid-size press
The drupa 2000 generation of Speedmaster SM 74 presses
features enhanced operating functions and numerous technological
innovations to increase productivity. The comprehensive automation
of the Speedmaster SM 74 makes short runs cost-effective, while the
stable production process ensures high productivity on long runs.
So it is not surprising that the Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 is
already the most successful commercial press in the 29 inch class.
The printer has all the major functions of the new CP2000
Center at his fingertips. In addition to CIP3 connection, the
PresetLink software module transfers presetting data online to
ensure the seamless integration of the press into the print
shop's digital workflow. The CP2000 Center also controls the
new, fully-automatic changeover of the perfecting device on certain
models. Automatic lateral pile adjustment and hickey prevention
with Alcolor Vario make life even easier for the printer during the
production run. In the configuration with ten printing units, which
will be presented on drupa for the first time, the Speedmaster SM
74 can display all its advantages to full effect - One Pass
Productivity in the mid-size format is now also available for 5/5.
Perfect printing with PerfectJackets
With its new PerfectJackets for the impression cylinders
after the perfecting device, Heidelberg is setting new standards in
double-sided printing - perfect straight/straight printing has
become a reality. This exchangeable cylinder jacket has an
additional ink-repelling silicon-based layer over a high-strength
titanium compound. Its main advantages are less cleaning and longer
production cycles without washing.
With a comprehensive range of models from single-color to
ten-color presses, Heidelberg has solutions for any capacity and
any job mix. Excellent flexibility means that the Speedmaster SM 74
is the perfect press for the versatile commercial printer with high
quality requirements. Heidelberg's complementary range of
products for prepress and finishing and its tried-and-tested
workflow integration make the Speedmaster SM 74 a core component
that can be fully integrated into the commercial workflow.
The CP2000 Center will be available for press configurations
with four or more printing units from October onwards. The first
installations of the Speedmaster SM 74-10-P are expected during the
second half of 2000, with fully automatic sheet reversal ready for
delivery from the end of the year.
