Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) delivered the
1,000th Plate Image Reader to the Chinese print shop Hongdahengzhi
Graphics Co. Ltd. in Peking in September.
The Plate Image Reader scans the printing plate and, for each
ink zone, determines the proportion to be printed. The ink setting
values which this yields are then forwarded to the CP2000 Center.
The company already uses a Speedmaster SM 102, equipped with
the first CP2000 Center in China. Hongdahengzhi Graphics Co. Ltd.
specializes in art books featuring Chinese painting, as well as
magazines, catalogs and brochures. The CP2000 Center is setting new
standards in terms of ease of use and machine handling and forms
the heart of the Heidelberg Prinect. The Heidelberg Prinect can be
used to initiate integration and networking operations for the
Prinect Workflow. Software and hardware modules can be linked up as
necessary to customize the process from start to finish.
The Chinese print shop uses the PresetLink which forwards the
Plate Image Reader data online to the CP2000 Center. The CP2000
uses this information to calculate the settings for the printing
unit ink fountains. This Prinect solution has been tailored
precisely to the needs of Hongdahengzhi Graphics, thereby ensuring
that the required production quality is achieved quickly. The Plate
Image Reader can read all popular plate formats and is geared
precisely to the ink zone widths of Heidelberg presses.
Heidelberg sees China as the most important growth market in
Asia. Since the middle of 1998, it has had its own sales companies
in Asia. These were previously part of the EAC sales organization.
Heidelberg, the world market leader in solutions for the print and
publishing industry, has sales and service representations in four
important centers in China: Peking, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong
Kong.
