More than 1000 Heidelberg CP2000 Center
Following the start of series production in January 1999, the
1,000th and 1,001st CP2000 center have been installed at the
company Meinke in Neuss near Düsseldorf, along with a
Speedmaster SM 102 five-Color and a Speedmaster SM 102 six-color
press.
In their role as a complete service provider, Meinke's 65
staff mainly produce magazines, catalogs, calendars and brochures.
The CP2000 Center provides the printshop with a modern and
easy-to-operate press control system.
The new Speedmaster drupa 2000 generation delivers one-touch
productivity in the high-quality sheetfed offset printing sector.
In addition, the CP2000 Center and the modular Prinect components
enable digital integration within the print shop. "The
networked print shop will become reality for us over the next year.
And with the CP2000 Center, we're well-prepared for that,"
explains Dirk Ackerknecht, Meinke's Managing Director.
Available for all Speedmaster series from fall 2000
From 2000 onwards, Heidelberg is also equipping the
Speedmaster SM 74 and Speedmaster SM 52 series with the CP2000
Center as standard. The central press control system features
maximum ease of operation for effective control, plus an ergonomic
design. With its graphical user interface and touch-screen
operation, the control system sets new standards in the printing
industry, and offers enhanced process reliability.
The CP2000 Center forms the central element of the Prinect
process chain. The open, modular Prinect solutions for the printing
press enable ink presetting data to be transferred directly from
the digital prepress stage online to the control system, for
example. Meinke has installed the Prinect product ImageControl,
which enables spectrophotometric color measurement and control over
the entire print image. Both the Speedmasters therefore get to
color quickly. At the same time, the quality of the print run can
be checked and, if necessary, a job record created.
Meinke Print Media Partner is looking to install the
production and information system DataControl next year. This
Prinect product, which makes the digital integration of all
Heidelberg system components possible, represents the final step in
Meinke's move towards a "networked print shop".
"Around a year and a half ago, we introduced
Computer-to-Plate, and we are already processing 90 percent of our
jobs using CtP. The CP2000 Center and DataControl will enable us to
handle the entire job processing operation directly and
online," says Ackerknecht, describing the dynamic development
of the print media industry.
