One Pass Productivity with 6/6 Colors
The drupa 2000 generation of the Speedmaster SM and CD 102
series has been redesigned and once again demonstrates
Heidelberg's technology leadership in this market. A whole raft
of technological innovations for the print process coupled with new
automated features delivers a new dimension in terms of quality and
guarantees the very highest productivity. The CP2000 Center - the
most cutting-edge control system in the printing press industry -
ensures perfect operation and integration into the digital
workflow. The extended range of functions now also enables a direct
comparison on the touchscreen between the preview data from the
prepress stage and the actual production job. Several presses can
be networked.
Extended range of functions of the CP2000 Center
The CP2000 Center press control system has been further
optimized in line with the very latest technological and ergonomic
criteria. These include the color touchscreen interface and the new
print image preview from the CIP3 data, made possible by
PresentLink.
The new CANBus interface and CANOpen from Heidelberg set the
standard for the next integration stage in the field of highly
automated sheetfed offset printing. Ancillary assemblies such as
InkLine or the DryStar dryer can be controlled centrally from the
CP2000 Center. Equipment diagnosis, visualization of the print
process, recording of operating data and job storage are all
performed centrally via the CP2000 Center. This relieves the
workload on personnel, boosts productivity and helps cut material
costs.
AutoPlate Plus centrally controlled plate changeover
Both press series feature the new AutoPlate Plus which
the printer can use to initiate automatic plate changing in all
printing units from the convenience of the CP2000 Center. This also
facilitates and shortens the make-ready process.
New delivery unit design boosts performance - for all printing
stock
Specifically for the Speedmaster CD and SM 102,
Heidelberg has redesigned the sheet feed system in the delivery
unit by rearranging the Venturi nozzles and improving the air
supply. The process of simplifying adjustment of the total air
quantity and making this reproducible has enhanced ease of use. The
sheets travel to the delivery unit virtually without contact. As a
result, the production speed is increased, even under difficult
conditions. Far higher net production rates are achieved in actual
practice.
CleanStar reduces powder consumption
CleanStar from Heidelberg is a further component designed to
reduce the quantity of powder required. The delivery units of the
Speedmaster SM and CD 102 have been equipped with an integrated
powder extraction device which, together with double-sided
powdering by the Exatronic Duo Plus System, provides the best
system available on the market for ensuring controlled application
of powder.
The CleanStar is part of the Heidelberg Star concept which
groups together the press' ancillary units in compact, easily
accessible machine cabinets. All ancillary units in the Star
concept are available in a water-cooled version.
Automatic non-stop ink feed with InkLine Direct
The InkLine unit for supplying printing units with ink from
two kilogram cartridges was introduced two years ago and has now
evolved into the InkLine Direct fully automatic ink supply system.
Ink can now also be fed via a central ink supply system; this does
away with the need to exchange cartridges and also cuts setup
times.
Speedmaster CD 102 prints gold and silver
The universal Speedmaster CD 102 straight printing press with
central control via the CP2000 Center has a modular design which
enables it to cover a broad spectrum of applications for general
commercial, label and folding box printshops. Heidelberg will be
presenting its top model at drupa, consisting of a configuration
with six printing units, two coating units and two drying units.
The two coating units have been optimized for use as sheetfed
flexographic units.
The highlight for the folding box and label market is a newly
developed gold and silver ink which is applied inline by means of a
coating unit. Heidelberg has thus provided users with an
alternative to expensive processes such as gravure printing or hot
foil stamping and expensive materials such as metallized papers.
Heidelberg is also marketing a Speedmaster CD 102 as a pure
offline finishing machine, i.e. a machine without offset printing
units. The Speedmaster CD 102 is a highly diverse solution for
print shops looking to offer additional finishing and processing
services and valuing the flexibility of the modular CD 102 series.
Speedmaster SM 102 - One Pass Productivity with 12 printing
units
As a high-end perfecting press, the Speedmaster SM 102 with
CP2000 Center offers users entirely new dimensions in productivity.
The Speedmaster SM 102 is the only press in this format class which
is also available in configurations with twelve printing units,
delivering "One Pass Productivity" for 6/6 colors or 5/5
colors plus coating.
The new PerfectJacket concept from Heidelberg delivers
enhanced print quality following sheet reversal in the Speedmaster
SM 102. The new exchangeable jacket for the impression cylinder has
enabled the perfector models to make considerable advances in terms
of print quality and productivity. In addition to the low-wear
surface, the key benefits include reduced washup operations and
longer production cycles without washups. PerfectJacket from
Heidelberg has made absolute straight printing quality a standard
feature on perfecting presses.
