From 26th September to 28th September 2000, the Boards of
Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World
Bank Group (WBG) will be holding their Annual Meetings for the year
2000. It's going to be the most important political and economic
event in Europe this year.
Also this year, the Heidelberg company is celebrating
its 150th anniversary. Heidelberg is therefore very pleased to
announce that it has become the "Official Supplier of the Executive
Organizer of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund
and the World Bank Group Prague 2000". This partnership means
that most of the documentation resulting from these meetings will
be printed on Heidelberg machines.
The official programme of the Prague 2000 IMF/WBG meetings
will be held from the 26th September 2000. Actual printed
production has, however, started the first week in September. All
IMF/WBG seminars, lectures and speeches, are being documented in
print - in several languages - for the needs of
participants, guests, and the media representatives. A vast amount
of material will therefore be printed and bound daily. It is
estimated that the number of printed pages will amount close to 8
million, out of which 80% will be double-sided - totalling more
than 14 million single-sided US Legal format (8 1/2 x 11 inches)
printed pages in two weeks.
Both partners and suppliers are faced with a tremendously
demanding task of organising a smooth, problem-free event. That is
why only the most respected companies in their fields have been
chosen to supply services for the occasion. All selected companies
are therefore sure to find this a great challenge and an
opportunity to prove that only the best can work with the best.
During the selection process, the Heidelberg-team members were able
to effectively demonstrate the high technological level of their
products, their open and cost-effective approach, and their
guarantee of flawless non-stop service.
All printed materials will be produced on four Heidelberg
digital printing machines Digimaster 9110 as well as on eight
analogue machines. These machines are networked in an efficient
workflow. The "Print Centre" is located in a 900m² area
(1,400 m² with surrounding storerooms) in the basement of the
Congress Centre. The Digimaster 9110 leads the field in digital
black and white printing and can handle demanding and diverse jobs
from prepress over press to postpress. The main qualities
Digimaster 9110 is able to offer are 600 dpi resolution, 110
impressions per minute, 8,000 sheet storage capacity (in six
trays), scanning and further digital printing, and more.
It is a great honour for Heidelberg to co-operate with such a
high-profile international organisation. The company wishes to
demonstrate to the political and financial personnels from across
the world that when there is a question of complex and
state-of-the-art print solution, Heidelberg is the answer.
